Joel Cabrita receives National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences book award
Joel Cabrita, associate professor of history and of African and African American studies, was honored by South Africa’s National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences at its ninth annual Humanities & Social Sciences Awards for her book Written Out: The Silencing of Regina Gelana Twala. Cabrita was a joint winner for best nonfiction biography. The awards recognize members of the humanities and social sciences community creating post-apartheid and postcolonial scholarship, creative production, and digital humanities outputs.
