Laura Dassama wins Shaw Award

Laura Dassama, assistant professor of chemistry, has received the Walter A. Shaw Young Investigator Award in Lipid Research. Given by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the award recognizes outstanding research contributions in the area of lipids by a young investigator. Dassama was honored for her discoveries in bacterial lipid transport and metabolism, work that is opening new avenues for studying host–pathogen interactions and developing anti-infective therapies. 

Dassama is also an assistant professor of microbiology and of immunology in the School of Medicine.
