Margaret Cohen receives National Endowment for the Humanities grant

Margaret Cohen, the Andrew B. Hammond Professor of French Language, Literature, and Civilization and professor in the Department of English, has been awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for her oceanic humanities project, co-directed with Fiorenza Micheli, a professor in Stanford's Doerr School of Sustainability. The two-year project will develop and implement an undergraduate program that brings together humanities research and ocean science with a focus on practical applications. The program will be incubated at Stanford with the goal of making it transferrable to other institutions.
