Matthew Sommer awarded American Historical Association prize
Matthew Sommer, the Bowman Family Professor and a professor in the Department of History, has been awarded the John K. Fairbank Prize in East Asian History Since 1800 for his book The Fox Spirit, the Stone Maiden, and Other Transgender Histories from Late Imperial China. The American Historical Association gives the prize annually to an outstanding book on the history of East Asia.
