Michael McFaul, the Ken Olivier and Angela Nomellini Professor in International Studies and professor in the Department of Political Science, has been awarded the 2026 Hubert Humphrey Award by the American Political Science Association. The honor recognizes a political scientist's public service. McFaul received the award for three decades of service and research, including using his expertise on Russia as an adviser and diplomat in the Obama administration and helping the general public understand the region’s complex issues through regular appearances on news programs.

McFaul is also a senior fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI) and the Peter and Helen Bing Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution.
