Philip Bucksbaum receives NSF/UKRI quantum chemistry award

Portrait of Philip Bucksbaum

Philip Bucksbaum, the Marguerite Blake Wilbur Professor of Natural Science, professor of photon science at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, and professor of applied physics and of physics in the School of Humanities and Sciences, has received an award jointly funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) to investigate quantum information phenomena in chemical reactions and systems. Bucksbaum and his collaborators are studying electron-ion entanglement, and their research could potentially lead to a deeper understanding of the role of quantum fields within chemical dynamics.
