Steven Chu receives inaugural lifetime achievement award

Steven Chu, the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor and professor in the Department of Physics, has been awarded the inaugural Chien-Shiung Wu Lifetime Achievement Medal from the Asian American Academy of Science and Engineering. The award recognized individuals who have made profound and lasting contributions to science and engineering.

In addition, the AAASE has named an award after Chu that honors those who have achieved significant accomplishments in leaderships, science, and engineering: the Steven Chu Gold Medal. It was awarded for the first time this year.

Chu is also a professor of energy science and engineering in the Doerr School of Sustainability and of molecular and cellular physiology in the School of Medicine.
