Surya Ganguli, an associate professor in the Department of Applied Physics, has been awarded a senior fellowship through the Schmidt Sciences Foundation's AI2050 program. Ganguli will receive funding to pursue research helping AI create benefits for humanity by 2050. His project involves developing analytic theories to explain how large language and generative models work, allowing the creation of more reliable AI in the future.
