Three earn Phi Beta Kappa teaching honor
The Phi Beta Kappa Northern California Association has honored three H&S faculty members with 2026 Teaching Excellence Awards. The winners include Joshua Landy, the Andrew B. Hammond Professor of French Language, Literature, and Civilization and professor of comparative literature in the Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages; Robert J. Podesva, associate professor in the Department of Linguistics; and Gil-li Vardi, lecturer in the Department of History. The association gives the award annually based on student nominations.
Landy is also the Eleanor Loring Ritch University Fellow in Undergraduate Education.
