Four H&S scientists named 2025 PECASE winners

Vedika Khemani, associate professor in the Department of Physics; Lauren O'Connell, associate professor in the Department of Biology; Amir Safavi-Naeini, associate professor in the Department of Physics; and Douglas Stanford, associate professor in the Department of Physics, have been named winners of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) by the U.S. government. Khemani studies nonequilibrium quantum phases of matter. O'Connell focuses on amphibians to learn how animals adapt to changing environments. Safavi-Naeini works on developing photonic, phononic, and microwave devices for quantum sensing. Stanford researches quantum gravity, quantum field theory, and string theory.
