Tony Heinz wins 2026 Optica award

Tony Heinz, a professor in the Department of Applied Physics, has won Optica's 2026 Frederic Ives Medal/Jarus W. Quinn Prize. The award is the highest honor given by Optica, the leading society for researchers in the science of light. Heinz is recognized for his pioneering research into the optics of surfaces, interfaces, and nanoscale materials, as well as his dedication to education and leadership. 

Heinz is also a professor of photon science at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and director of Stanford's Edward L. Ginzton Laboratory.
